Five Ways to Relax

 

We all have those times in our lives where it seems like things are just a lot more stressful than at other times.  Things seem to pile up with work, little bad things in your everyday life happen more often and it feels like the world is trying to stress you out at every turn. It happens to us all and sometimes there isn’t much we can do to stop the on slot but we can control how we deal with it all. Staying stressed out has been proven to be bad for your health so below I have given you a few tips to help you unwind.

  1. Take a walk in Nature

Nature has a healing effect on your soul and for me, it’s a great way to take a breather. I personally go to places like parks or historic sites with walking trails. My preference is to find a place that is not too crowded. Then I put my headphones in and just walk it out till I feel better. If it’s cold outside an alternative is to sit in your car at the place or go on a drive through the country.

  1. Watch your favorite movie by candlelight

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of grabbing a soft blanket, turning off the lights, turning on the TV and lighting all the candles you have. It’s made even better when you have your favorite movie of all time playing. For me, this is one of the best ways to calm down after a hard day of stressing out. If you’re saying to yourself, I don’t really have any candles then my friend, you need to fix that. Bath and Body Works always has some great candle scenes, especially this time of year. And there is always a way to save money there. My favorite is marshmallow fireside.

  1. Work out

If you don’t work out or don’t like to work out, then go ahead and skip to the next one. Working out is just not something everyone finds relaxing. If you are this kind of person then this is for you. Working out is one of the best ways to calm down and if you happen to be a parent then working out can be a great way to get away for a minute, while also taking care of yourself. Things like the treadmill or the elliptical are great for just zoning out and taking a second to relax.

  1. Cuddle up with a blanket and a book

If you are a reader then here is a reminder to take a minute to have a date with your favorite book and a super soft blanket. It’s one of the best ways to calm down if you just need to take a minute. Some of my favorites to read, especially this time of year, would be Harry Potter by J.K Rowling (of course), Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake, the Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan, the Hush Hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick and the Shiver Series by Maggie Stiefvater. All of these are great books and series that I definitely recommend.

  1. Watching your Favorite Youtubers

This could totally be done with a blanket as well. Heck, you might get crazy and throw some candles in the mix, I won’t judge. Youtube is something I spend a lot of time doing and it really helps me to calm down. If you are short on some people to watch Grav3yardgirl is always a great one. I also love Doitonadime, Safiya Nygaard, But First, Coffee, Laura Lee, And Kalyn Nicholson just to name a few.
